Has anybody had a problems with this warning light?

It first came on while I was moving the van from the pitch to the MV servicing point. The owner's book says get it to the dealer quick and don't stress the engine. However, on the way home I also noticed that the cruise control had stopped working but I guess that the van had gone into some kind of safety mode and dismissed it until I took the van to the dealer.

As a side issue, my reversing camera has also stopped working.

Well, I have just picked up the van from Fiat. Apparently, there were 3 faults registered: oil switch, air flow sensor and faultly reversing lights. (Could this be the answer to my reversing camera I thought. I'll find out when I get home and reversing onto the drive!) Just 2 mins from the workshop I selected cruise control and nothing happened. So it was an about turn and back to Fiat. The van is now booked in again on Friday to have the cruise control looked at.

Just as I started the van to drivr away from Fiat I noticed that the injection warning light had come back on. And my reversing lights aren't working! (and nor is the camera)

Has anyone experienced this before?

Rather worryingly the workshop told me that this work may not be covered by the Fiat warranty as the converter, in this case Autotrail, have altered the orginal wiring to suit their van. As far as Fiat are concerned, the wiring problem is now Autotrail,s problem.

I hope Fiat are watching. Please help!

Have them check all your wiring out. Have they caught it somewhere?

Hi tviall, same thing happened with my last van,x250 160 engine, the engine management light came on when I diipped the clutch at a peage. The engine cut out and the dash lit up light a christmas tree. It cleared after about 50/100 miles but the fault returned about five times.Put it into Fiart for the diagnostic treatment, engineer said it was showing about thirty faults, obviously a mistake he said, the computer cleared all the faults,I was told that the air flow meter was "not talking to the brain" It never happened again so they must have kissed and made up.regards,seamus.

I've had a similar problem and the fact that your reversing camera is effected leads me to think it might be the same.

On my Swift vehicle it was very intermittent. The dealer eventually tracked it down to a trapped wire in the reversing light harness. The fault would only occur if you reversed over a bump. A short occured and blew the fuse in the supply to the reversing bulb. It just so happens the same supply is used by the EMU and the Injector Warning light comes on.

The dealer had to re-route the wiring since it was trapped somewher in the habitation unit. Swift said they'd notice this problem occasionally in their manufacturing process - somehow mine got shipped with it still a problem Sad

A similar problem can occur if you have a fault reversing light bulb that draws to much current and blows the fuse.

Colin

Hi

It`s happened to me twice.First time it was injector related, and the second time it was the throttle valve that played up.

Thanks to everyone,s thoughts on both these topics that I had posted separately on this site. I had thought that they were completely unconnected but I was wrong.

My problem is resolved and I thought that you may be interested.

Over the past few weeks I have had warning lights come on like a christmas tree on the dashboard and complete loss of cruise control. At first, the reversing camera and these other problems seem unconnected but we were wrong.

I have been taking the van to my local Fiat dealer to resolve the warning light problem and they have been completely baffled. They could see the errors registered on the ECU but couldn't find the cause. They would clear the memory and reset the van but within a few days the lights would come back on. In addition the reversing lights would stop working and the relevant fuse would blow.

This morning while down at Fiat again (I have almost become one of the staff down there!) someone noticed an orange wire hanging down between the two rear axles. Curiosity got the better of them and they found that as the van drove along a road the wire would flap around under the van and occasionally touch one of the axles. This would immediately cause the reversing light fuse to blow, disconnect the cuise control and the dashboard light up. Fiat had no idea what this wire was used for as it wasn't part of any wiring loom but from what I was telling them we guessed that it had something to do with the reversing camera.

This was indeed my problem and once connected back up to the other loose end of wiring and securely tucked away as it should have been when the van was built everything worked as it should. No dashboard lights, a working cruise control and, joy of joys, a working reversing camera.

The morale of the story is to keep an open mind when something goes wrong. Keep calm and think logically. It also helps if you have an amazing Fiat dealer on your doorstep and fortunately I have. Fiat UK approached me and offered to help but my local dealer has done a superb job and together we have worked out what the problem was and resolved it.
