Ours is a 2005 Ducato and came without a radio fitted. We (at least the dealer) fitted one with an ariel located on the near side front windscreen (inside.) It looks like a flat box with a flat broad ariel about 6inches long. Useless as an ariel.

Ours is a Coachbuilt Ducato 2005.

Had the UK nearside mirror smashed off by a French Builder, when I replaced it there was no aerial in it, so I assume that its inside the Offside Mirror. Perhaps its neither and goes up inside the door pillar. Anyway would like to improve the reception especailly on Long Wave.

Anyone know how to get the glass out to see, without needing a French builders Van that is! Cost me £200 and fitted it myself in Toolouse.

If you open the door is there 2 big black rubber bungs? if so take these out and you will see the bolts that retain the whole mirror. Take these out and release the door mirror and inspect the wiring going in. if you can see a black coax about 5mm dia thats it.

Short Stick I had the same problem on my 2008 cab but on Peugeot. I took it back to the Peugeot dealer and had them fit a flexible external aerial free on ring wing free of charge under manufacturer warranty and you should do the same to Fiat dealer. The aerial was originally at factory fitted onto the cab roof but removed in the conversion.

Hi oilslick,
If you remove the RH headlamp, you can see up between the inner and outer wing. There is a grommet in the inner wing where the side repeater wire goes through. I think this is big enough to take an aerial coaxial cable as well. It will come into the engine compartment behind the battery, from there you can feed up under the bulkhead top panel, through another grommet into the cab behind the dash.
This is from memory, don't beat me up if it doesn't work.

Hi,
I don't know if this helps you as I have an older Fiat Ducato based Hymer. Surprising to me, I found my radio aerial lying horizontally under the bonnet, above the engine!!

Thank you Colin,

I would never have thought of removing the headlight!
