Thanks so far. I would really want the HD option so it sounds as if I would be as well just subscribing and getting the kit from them?

If so what's the minimum I need to pay? - For installation and then subscription?

What's a Dreambox 8000? - Googled it, it's about 800 quid, been on the forums and it seems they are fed up of people asking if you can get encrypted channels for free because you cannot. (unlike cable channels which I know are very easy to hack).

Hi. No you cannot get cabled channels for free, But there are many many channels that are satellite channels that have been hacked, don't forget that most channels are free to view ie BBC ITV Channel 4 etc and some of these are HD but Sky have enforced the HD onto pay, My friend who I mentioned earlier has a Sky card which he uses in the Dreambox (I dont know what package he pays for) but he does not have to pay any extra for the HD channels and he gets some others.

I have a dreambox 7025 (Sat Version) Including Nova (English) Premier, and so onand I get almost 1200 channels for free.

Les

I would not know anything about Cable as I don't have it but I know others who have and they say they cannot get free channels except what cable supplier lets them have.

Won't you also need a dish with a dual LNB for Sky plus to work? Also HD is totally unnecessary for small screen TVs. You simply cannot see the difference.

Sky+HD £49 installed, minimum subscription for HD £26.25 (with just one entertainment pack) per month on a 12 month contract. You can get a really good deal if you take phone and broadband. Don't forget as already mentioned you can get Quidco cash back.

Just to close off and thank everyone really.

GELATHAE - read my original posting, I've got the LNB and its for the bungalow - where I have a humungous sized telly (well 37")!

SADDLETRAMP - if you are on cable its dead easy to hack all the channels. I'm not on cable but know plenty who are and do. The kit costs about £100.

If I can't use Sky plus recording facility I'll probably not bother with the set up I was proposing. Next winter I'll subscribe. But thanks again.

Dave
