I agree with Pusser. Next thing you know, you'll be on some-elses data base and be bombarded with junk mail spam etc. That's with-out this site trying to sell you stuff, which is coming up shortly.

Why does your 'Real Name' have to be your real name? .... it doesn't if you don't want it to be .....just put anything you like in there ..... do you have your real location in 'location'? .... if concerned about security put something more general in there; a county or area perhaps ..... not your home address!!

Hi
I am sure that Nuke will wish to explain but I imagine that when the Discount Scheme for subscribers is set up you will, if subscribed, get a discount card with your name on it.
It is a worry that entering your real name anywhere on the net will attract the attention of, as Gaspode puts, it "scumbags" but anyone who uses the internet faces an almost impossible task if they wish to keep their identity and personal details secret. I am no scumbag but I am sure that I would have no problem in identifying the real names and addresses of many of the posters on this forum by using a little detective style thought and the many legal and easily accessed databases open to me.
So you seem to have a choice...if you are really worried about it then stay off the internet or never ever fill in any details about yourself online. Otherwise enjoy the online experience and cross your fingers. if you doubt what I say then maybe you would like to issue a challenge in a PM and I will see what I can come up with about you
Good points Spykal but normally ID stuff for banking and shopping is on a secure server - this is not. I do agree that it would not take much effort to get real names and addresses with some detective work but I really don't fancy giving it to the "Scumbags" on a plate. Furthermore, unsecure websites are regularly scanned for email addresses which is where a lot of spam originates from and that is why my real email address is hopefully ticked hidden.
I'm not in too bad a postiion because there are always people in the house when we are away which is the only plus I can see with my last remaining son and girlfiend in situ.

I do agree and should have made that point clear in my post...secure servers (look for the lock in the bottom bar) are OK to use and as long as the bank workers in the call centres in India don't sell your ID to someone you will be safe.....
