I have the Garmin 2610 Sat Nav system and now I have got used to it's strange quirks have to say I am very pleased with it.

I was wondering if any MHomers have a Sat Nav that they have been able to download Speed traps and Black spot areas software onto. I spoke to my supplier today and he says that you can do it with Tom Tom Go 300 but has no info from Garmin yet if they will be releasing any software for the 2610.

I believe there is a 'pirated' software that just shows a red dot on the screen but no beep to warn you so that could be a bit of a problem if you have to look at screen continually Rolling Eyes

I'm not trying to instigate a topic which turns into a pro/con speed traps so please don't tell me these detectors are bad and people should keep within speed limits etc - I know that. Just wonder if anyone has any info on the
software that seems to be updating faster than I can keep up with it.
Maura

Thanks everyone..........in advance Wink

Hi
First of all I declare that I do not have a Garmin so as far as using the info below ...you are on your own Laughing if you do need help by all means post and I will do my best to help.

POIs of all sorts including Safety cameras can be downloaded from

<<speed traps....sorry safety cameras Laughing

there are instuctions there on how to use them too, but your garmin needs a special type of file to load from the PC. POI files are quite often wriiten for the Tom Tom system which uses an OV2 type of file...this will not load into your Garmin....BUT go to

and download the POI converter....this can convert almost any type of GPS POI file from one type to another ...including Garmin waypoints.

Best of luck

Mike

Shocked Shocked Oooooh Err Mike
thanks for that - sounds all a bit beyond my 'ickle brain - BUT I have the Daughter visiting soon and she be an IT person, so if I make her favourite dinner (the Full Roast with lots of spuds and Yorkshire puds) which is something I can manage - she will do the techie bit for me Wink

Many thanks - as always, will let you know how we get on.

By the way - hubby will be semi-retiring at end of August (yippee) so will be concentrating on getting that long awaited MH as soon as he has rested his weary brain.

Maura
