Dear All,
I recently visited Dorset - never realised how hilly it was!!. That's saying something from a boy from the Rhondda. I was coming down a tarred cliff face pretending to be a hill.marked as 17%. I was in second gear stuck behind a tractor occasionally using my brakes - it was a very slow tractor. Almost at the bottom the steering became quite heavy and the steering wheel started to shudder. I stopped ASAP checked everything out which appeared OK. Started up continued to drive everything was fine. Drove back to Cardiff 4 days later no problems. The vehicle is a Eura Mobil 810 2.8 JTD just completed 10,000 miles. Any views - opinions.

Hi Tiggs. Sounds like you cooked the assistance which operates on the steering and brakes. |

Probably due to over heating
Going down long steep hills one has a choice of :-
Using brakes all the way and overheating the brakes
Using a lower gear and over heating the gear box and/or the engine
As you have only done 10k and the fact that it rectified its selfit is probably something like that
Our Renault master did have the problem of the gears crunching when the engine got hot, then when cooled down goin OK
The mechanics tested the clutch, and selecter mechanism; No problems found
Next time in they chnged the gear box oil for a lighter grade, problem fixed.
Since then they have reverted to the original oil; still no problem |

Hello Tiggs,
Appears you experienced a temporary loss of power assistance to your vehicle's steering. Have you checked the fluid level in the power steering reservoir and also the tension of the power steering pump drive belt.

Hi sounds like the engine stalled and then restarted (if you have a manual gear box) I have known this to happen in the past.
