do Garmin offer "Aires De Service" if not why not?
really feed up with this company, they are so out of touch (well they are American aren't they) I called them a little while ago regarding mapping of speed cam's and was told "I should not speed! and no - they have no intention of providing this information"

Hi eddieo

In fairness to Garmin, i don't think any of the gps brands offer aires as a standard waypoint or points of interest database. They are put together by enthusiasts and uploaded to sites such as this for use by anyone.

You can easily upload them to your gps by downloading the tom tom version, and using the following software to convert to your needed format.

There is a lot of good info at pocketgps.co.uk, its worth a look.

Hi Eddieo

I'm assuming you downloaded the tom tom file, unzipped it and converted it to the garmin type with the program from the other web site, which should be "pcx5 waypoint file" with a .wpt extension.

You then use in mapsourse

file - import - change the type to "pcx5 waypoint file" and browse to you file that you have made, select it and ok it.

basically thats it, you obviously know the score from there, to plonk it onto the garmin.

Let us know how you get on.

Dave

Hi Eddieo

I just tried myself and it didn't work Sad - so not your fault mate

so i downloaded another program from that site called poiconvertor and it did work.

So either have a go with that, or drop me a pm, personal mail with your email address, and i'll mail the aires in garmin waypoint format to you.
