I'd love to hear from you please. I'm interested in one and can't find ANY info in the UK. I'm interested in fitting a box if I can find out where to get one (euro breaker perhaps) or perhaps buying a auto van with air con in europe and converting it to RHD in the UK.

Anyone with any info on the box (make, specs, what else it's fitted to) I'd love to be in touch - please reply or message or better still mail me.

Greg

Why not the Transit Durashift Box available on UK vehicles including motorvans. I have an Autosleeper with this box and I can't fault it having driven 12000 miles in Europe in the last year. This is a fantastic box which runs in automatic as well as tiptronic mode.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I would love the box, but the new shape transit wouldn't be suitable for me for a few reasons.

Firstly it's too expensive and too new for me, especially when you consider the first thing I'll do is cut the entire back of the van off leaving only floor and cab. I can get an older Tourneo or a 1998/2000 Ducato 2.8 around the £2,000 mark but no new shape transits anywhere near that mark. Second the small psa derived 2.0 engine isn't suitable for running on vegetable oil which is my fuel - 70p/litre tax paid against 90p/litre for diesel and they have a relatively weak reputation in the van repair world compared to other larger 2.5, 2.8 & 3.0 litre units. The 2.4 may be an option I don't know enough about it but I doubt either would be a match for the Iveco 2.8 engine in the ducato which with minor re-programing is 160hp. Also the better spec transits are usually RWD which cuts me out right away as the floor height is far too high.

I am sure it is a lovely vehicle to drive though!

Greg.

Two major problems, 1) the floor is WAY too high as I need 7' headroom. 2) searching on ebay and autotrader the sprintshift box is rare as hens teeth on anything but the latest vans which are far too expensive for me, I'd be able to afford a 1998 312 or something similar with the 2.9 di which will run on oil well.

Those sprinter engines go fantastically though don't they!!!

Greg.

Why not try Click and Go technology, changes gear with the aid of a button on the gear stick, no need to use the clutch pedal. Brilliant equipment and does not reduce fuel consumption.
