Hi, we are thinking of installing some kind of tracking system in our van. We have been looking at the likes of RACTracker, but have now discovered GPS Tractracker. The price of the RAC is about £599 plus monthly subscription £120/ year. The GPS is a unit which costs £285 + VAT, and sends messages relaying the van's position to your mobile for 10p a time when you dial it up. There are no annual or subscription fees at all. Has any body used any of these systems, or has any body got a better system installed in their van?
Thanks
Ken.

The guys that installed the Gaslow system on my van said they were beginning to handle something like this. Don't have any details. though
Look out for them at the shows - seems alot more realistic than the tracker costs

Are you aware that you can track mobile phones. A very cheap way is to buy a pay as you go phone and plug it into the leisure battery supply hidden away in your van. Register the phone with one of the mobile phone tracking services which you can find on the net such as

Then you can always find your motorhome if it has been stolen. I hope this helps

Thanks Guys.
Had a look at mobile phone tracking, but it could be a bit of a hit and a miss due to reception problems. Will keep looking at Gaslow, nothing on their website. Aldi is more for navigation I think. If any one is interested, I was following ebay looking at Garmin Quest. There were two for sale and they both made over £300. Considering the cheapest new price I could find was £329.99 from Global positioning systems, I didn't think that they were much of a bargain. If anybody is interested, try looking at amazon.co.uk, as they are/were new from £150
