Good for you. I am surprised that a C&CC site still has such poor facilities as you describe. I thought both clubs had been taking steps to correct the situation over the last 2 to three years.
I had a similar problem about 18 months ago, I think at the CC Black Knowle site where the facilities also leave something to be desired. On raising the issue with the warden I was informed the club had plans to refurbish the block but it was awaiting agreement with the land owner. They could do nothing until this was forthcoming. If it was withheld the facilities would not be improved. I don't know what happened but I did ask they alter the rating of the site in their handbook until such times as the improvements were effected. There was no way a wheelchair user could manage.
Maybe something similar is occuring at Lynton???

Hello Pee Dee
The warden gave me the impression that what they did there to comply if you can call it that has been done elsewhere if the existing facilities are similar. He said they could not afford to build purpose built facilities.

I have found that CC sites that show disabled facilities in general are good, however my problems have been with the type of grit used for the hard standing, although this did not apply to Broadway site where I was able to access all around the site and van, except the section by the station toilet block, where I could get there but not into block with scooter. Other sites (Minehead, Hawthorn Farm, Moreton in the Marsh, and Black Knowle) the grit used was either too deep or too large to allow a wheel chair, or even a power chair accessability.
I have made the CC aware of my feelings, even to the extent of considering ending my membership.
In the case of the CCC club sites I have not renewed my membership as, in one case (Mabelthorpe) the warden didnt even want me to check out the facilities, so I was left with doubts about the others in the book. And your posting about Lynton proves my point. The DDA is not really effective as it depends on peoples attitude. Unlike some I dont mind being labled disabled, but as those who know me will I am sure agree I am a stubborn sod and will fight for people like me to obtain equal rights.

Yes, though I was familiar, through press & media coverage, with the recent changes in the law regarding provision for the disabled, I did wonder what the Defence Diversification Agency had to do with motorhomes.
I hoped that a glut of Unimogs were about to be auctioned off to the civil market

The facilities at the CC site at Clumber Park are well signed but caution to anyone using the ladies facilities - there is s deep step immediately adjacent to the ramp at the doorway - it's next to the washing up facility- be very careful because wheelchair users could easily slip over the edge of the step if they didnt get the aim exactly right.
Hmmm, just read what I've written but it doesnt really give the full picture, anyway, Clumber park CC site, watch the step!

Well and there was me thinking it was the Disabled Drivers Association....yes I am a member.
The Discrimination act is long overdue.
What really.... upset (pause for polite word) me in last few years : A commercial caravan site being given a 5 Star Rating by English tourist board
when no Dis A Facs were available at all. Wrote letters of complaint and got sob story back"" only voluntary membership of ETB" "can't enforce etc etc.
In Ireland ( Have posted about this a while ago) about a 3rd of sites advertising as having Dis A facs in the official ITB Site book did not have them or of such a low spec as to be almost useless. ...............and then we have the occupiers of Disabled parking who aren't.........grrrrrrrrr!!
