My son (white van man) is often pulled over for a vehicle check. He's noticed this week that there has been an increase in the number of motorhomes also being checked. According to the vehicle examiner he spoke to, they are having a 2 month purge on motorhomes looking for rear axle overloading and cracked tyres (plus all the other standard checks). Doesn't seem to be restricted to any one area.
As ever with these things, there is probably a bit of truth and mischief in the examiner's comments.
I think the overloading fine can be £100 for every 10kg maximum £5,000 but don't quote me on that. That's potentially £850 if my missus doesn't get out of the back in time!
