I'm not much help (nothing new there ) - our video camera doesn't have a dig out port, so I used a Hauppage box to convert composite video to USB, and I used the supplied software on a PC, but I'm sure I just used iMovie to import the video to my G4 iBook (via the USB port).
If it's raining in the morning (and hence can't paint the outside of the house), I'll get the vid down and have a play for you.
You've probably tried this already, but there are any number of mac based forums out there (e.g.mac-forums )where people are only too willing to provide assistance for questions of this nature. Personally, I've never found a question about a mac that hadn't already been asked (and answered) several times over.
Steve,
I am not familiar with Macs, but have always been of the impression that firewire was common on all Macs since its introduction about 10 years ago. If it is not and your camcorder supports firewire then have you considered a firewire to usb adapter. Not expensive and guaranteed mac compatibility. Speed is not an issue provided you have USB2 ports.
Gerry
If he doesn't have Firewire Gerry, it will only be USB1 they were still shipping with usb1 and firewire400 in 2004
