Using a new Butane Gas Heater which has started to smell more. Is this because the smell is put added in addition to the gas and the smell increases as the bottle empties ?

Thanks Captain Bligh brave

If your using it inside the van make sure you have plenty of ventilation,
The heaters that are built into your vehicle have heat exchangers so that no fumes are vented inside the van

A stand alone heater will fill the van up with, harm full fumes

Hope this makes sense

Not sure about that, but if it helps we kept smelling a strong gas smell from our water heater vent in our Winnebago, it then ran out. We are complete novices with an American Motorhome but was told its normal to smell gas as it runs out - so what you've said makes sense.

As an ex gasfitter I can tell you that there should NEVER be a smell of gas at any time, whatever the level of gas in the bottle, check ALL connections with soapy water and I suspect you'll find a leak somewhere. DO NOT look for escapes with a naked flame under any circumstances !!!! Exclamation

If it is a new butane gas heater and the cylinder and heater are portable and in the same room, shut them down!!!!!
THEY ARE KILLING YOU.
NEVER use a gas heater that is not directly vented to the outside!!!!!!!
