Sorry all, I know this has been done to death, but I still don't fully understand and a divorce is looming!

We are off full-timing next year. Down through France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Croatia and back up through Poland and Germany.

New van arrives 18 Nov and we have just ordered flash new LCD TV. Now trying to sort satellite and not going well.

Am quite happy to pay small subscription if we go for SKY as we do now at home or will the freeview be adequate? Can you get English Sky channels in other European countries? What do we need and what will we be able to watch?????

Not bothered about the shopping channels etc, but would like at least CNN and pref BBC/ITV news channel, Eurosport and maybe a couple of entertainment and documentary type things.

At this rate, the LCD TV will be up for sale and we will be having nothing!

Please help!!! It has been a long day and I am on the second bottle of Gin!

Thanks
Rachel

Rachel,

All of your questions should be answered in:
http://www.satelliteforcaravans.co.uk/

So have a careful read and come back with things you still don't understand.

Hi rachel
Just 2 tips.
Make sure you have a big enough dish 80-85 cm should be ok
Buy a digital satellite finder.

Anymore info, as stated, just ASK!

Thanks!

Hubby currently bidding on a 12v sky digi box on ebay! Guessed we would need an 80cm dish.

It all seems a bit bizarre coz we haven't had TV in our current van in the 3 years we've had it and really not missed it - we actually TALK to each other and read or play cards etc. Just felt if we were away for a year, it might be nice!

May well be back when all of the bits arrive!

Rachel

If he is bidding for a box that takes a card you can buy a Freesat card from Sky for £25 (as long as you are a Sky subscriber at present) which gives you the basic Sky package and is a one off fee with no subscription) and includes all BBC and ITV channels. If the box is a Freesat one with no slots for card you will not get ITV 1, Channel 4 or 5 YET but are expected to go freeview early next year.

If you already have sky at home, just take the receiver and card with you, all you then need is the dish.
