I've read all through the satellite posts and am trying to work out the best way forward. It would seem that an automatic dish is nice though limited and size (therefore footprint) and expensive.
I will be using my MH probably 3-4 hights a week and will be quite mobile. Therefore I'm wondering whether I'd be better off with an automatic dish and then if I go to Greece or Southern Spain, just take a larger fixed dish and a meter. This way, it will also be possible to watch satellite on the move if I get a dome system.
Any recommendations?

I have decided to buy a Kathrein satellite antenna £125 and a hand crank mast at £112 as a budget option to a full blown auto system .. See them both at Road Pro

I have seen many of these in use and everyone I asked was very pleased with the performance.
I found it hard to justify spending thousands on an all singing auto system
Horses for courses I guess
UPDATE.. the above links don't work .. please go to Road Pro and navigate to satelite dishes and masts ..

I'll check them out though. The trouble is that I will be using the MH for business and of an evening just want to switch the TV on and open a bottle. I'll be moving around a lot too.
Wht are auto systems so expensive?

That's odd, I just tried the links and they were ok..
Apparently the Kathrein system is very easy to line up, (so I am reliably told), hopefully someone with one will be able to give an objective view.
Auto systems ( as I understand ) have a sophisticated tracking device with servo motors to align the dish, why they are soo expensive I don't know.
Some of the members with them will be better placed to answer.

Should you be considering purchasing a CAMOS dome I'd wait a couple of months for an upgrade to become available. Any specific questions on CAMOS, fire away.
Why are auto systems so expensive? Because the market will bear it, mainly.
I have used the "viewing" on the move when on a satellite-shaded pitch, and when recording for Sky+, but I'd councel against the live viewing/listening distraction when driving.

? Or similar?
Will it take an 85cm dish with FIXED LNB arm? and does the dish fold flat by using the hand crank? If it does, I assume the LNB arm is then vertical and the dish acts like a giant soup dish. Unless a drainage hole is made in the centre.

The CAMOS upgrade (well, whether an upgrade will be offered or simply a different system black box is unclear as yet) fires the dish up in the last direction it was aiming, and locks on to a signal much faster (15 seconds was mentioned). I am unsure whether the current consumption in sleep mode (no tracking) is less. Still waiting to hear more than that.
They also offer a broadband internet satellite receiver with GPRS backchannel, though I'm not sure of the service support arrangements in the UK.
