One of our new members raised a valid point by email with me, as follows:-

When you are in the market for purchasing an expensive motorhome from a dealer, either on their forecourt or at a show, what items can be used as negotiable extras, so far I thought of the following:-

Hook Up lead
Regulators etc
Extended Warranties

Can our members add more to this thread that they can think of, and once we have a definitive list I will add it to the Frequently Asked Question (FAQ) Section here:-

[b:52b6783148][i:52b6783148] Hi Nuke!!

When my wife and I purchased our Laika from Barrons (second hand) I struck a deal with the sales guy that any extras I bought from them be installed free of charge, with the PDI carried out last.

(Frankly I was surprised that the went for it, as it tied up their workshop for a while!!)

What about a free tank of fuel? Nothing more annoying than picking up the van in a strange area when it is running on fumes, and you have no idea of the MPG

The idea of some fuel is not so daft, cos some of these places are not too close to petrol stations and the big ones wouldnt go far on the bit you normally find in the tank. I suspect some dealers may even syphon!

Leveling blocks wouldnt break their bank or reduce the profits too much.

how about gas bottles, in theory you should be able to use the 'van straight away I think, we sold our last van privately and theyguy who bought it had come from Scotland, and was amazed we left it with gas bottle, hook-up lead and about 1/4 tank diesel [£30.00 at most]. If we can - the dealers can. They could even give option of butane / propane!
Cool

Hello

In addition to what you have already quoted .

We always ask for protective mats in the cab.

Door pocket on passenger side if not standard.

Silver Screens for windows and tyres

We had all the above with our current van.

free fitting of other extras a good idea.

I would also ask for ext warranties on vehicle and on the conversion.

What you dont ask for you dont get.
Water ingress Warranty to 5 years.

Fly Screen to door

Possibly Anti bust locks.

Now:- What about a phone holder with loudspeaker & extra 12volt combined facility for charging the phone with your 12 volt phone charger.

How about a night's free camping with electric at the nearest site so that you can check it all works before heading off into the sunset? I know some caravan dealers do something smilar. Quite often we are buying from quite a distance away & problems often do not surface until you try to use something. Confused
