Hi,

Could anybody offer any advice on a one way trip from Gibraltar to UK?

I'm a soldier based in Gibraltar with my family, our posting here unfortuanetly ends in August 2006 and I'd like to make the trip back to the UK (Chatham, Kent) in a Mobile Home, taking a week or two to travel through France and Spain.

Does anybody have any suggestions where I could rent one? or any other wortwhile info.

Thanks very much for taking the time to read this.

David Emmerson.

David;

Welcome to MHfacts. When you're planning your holiday trip back home you'll find this site useful source of info. Is this is a likely hire place ?

http://www.car-rental-hire.co.uk/motorhome-hire-spain.htm

I'd guess though that they'd be a bit unhappy with a one way trip so far from base in Spain. I'd guess it would be expensive as they'd have to find someone to return the MH.

Just a thought but I wonder how successful an advert would be to find a family who wanted to hire a MH in UK to travel to Spain and then, after their holiday, fly home and leave you to return the MH to the hirer in UK ?

I can see that appealing to a family with limited time for their holiday who, by August, would to be going home to get children back into school. You have plenty of time to set this up with a UK rental company. Perhaps a letter to a UK MH rental firm -all advertise on the internet - might be a good start ?

There is someone on this site who is based in Spain and does MH hire but I can't remember who it is. Perhaps keeping your mail to the top will bring him out !

Good luck- sounds a wonderful idea

That sounds like a great idea, I did think of something along those lines myself, but was unsure on how the firms would take it. Gibraltar or Malaga airport are ideal links back to the UK, I'll look into it.

Thanks very much Grizzly.

I know that the RAF have a magazine Air Forces Monthly with news about the various units ( I know the Army is organised differently) can you pace an ad in that or something similar

Perhaps there will be someone prepared to bring a MH out for you to return

Or else as many Aussies & Kiwi's do buy a cheap one to sell when you get back here

Hopefully you will take to MHing & keep it/ trade up

You will find the roads much wider outside Gib
