Confused

As you may know already, we're new here.

We're seasoned tentists, but new to the 'van scene (sounds almost illicit eh?!)

Anyway, this might spark a bit of a slanging match but I'll fire a broadside anyhow:

Would you recommend the Caravan Club or the Camping and Caravanning Club?

We like trying out different sites, preferably close to pubs and preferably without kids flying about (and I don't mean Peter Pan neither!).

Any ideas welcome. We're gonna join just the one at this point!

Nice one folks!

Wink

we are members of both clubs. They both have there advantages. We generally get better ferry prices with the caravan club. The caravan club sites are a bit better standard. We like the temporary sites that the camping club organise, they are usually in good locations, reasonable prices and they are not rallies so you do not have to join in .The magazine is a better one with the caravan club. The camping club have a discount if you are over 55.The best way to decide is to get in touch with both clubs and ask for information.
If we were only going to be members of one club it would probably be the caravan club.

On the other hand, considering how much we spend on this pastime and that the annual subscription is worth about half a tank of fuel it might be worth joining both.
Remember that if it brings the option of an another campsite within the distance you want to travel the saving could pay for the subscription.

If you see what I mean Confused

Go with both, they both offer different styles of camping, we've been a member of the Camping & Caravanning Club for nearly 30 years and have worked for them as Site Managers in recent years, however we are also members of the Caravan Club, as they tend to have more small farm hideaway/certificated sites.

It really depends on your preferences when it comes to camping.

Hope you enjoy whichever club you join.

I dont think its fair to say the CC sites are better quality than the C&CC sites, in fact I could show you sites from the latter club that make some of the better CC sites look like CLs. There is good and bad in both.
We are members of both clubs, CC for over 20 years and C&CC for about 15 years. The C&CC look after motorhomers better than the CC in many ways. As for ferry prices, last year there were quite a few cases where the C&CC beat the CC hands down. We do better than either with Camping Cheques or MTC
