I've visited a few fantastic sites in my time, the simplicity and staggering beauty of Folly Farm Cotswold Camping near Bourton on the Water, the sheer bliss of adults-only camping at Longnor Wood in Buxton...
And it got me wondering as the new season approaches - or rather, it got me wanting to so I could experience the joys for myself - where other people thought of as must-visit retreats in this beautiful nation of ours.
Not just names, folks - what do you like about your favourite sites?
It'd be great (and I don't want to start getting all "I want" here, being but a newbie) if there was a collection of sites on these here pages endorsed by the likes of you and me.
So tip your hat in the right direction and share some tales of fine trips around the United of Kingdom.
And give me and the missus a natural aspirin to stop the headache of wondering where to go to next!

The great thing about the Campsite & wildspots database on this site is that it enables you to add all your own personal comments, like why it’s the best. Basically just what stormywhether (or should that be stromyweather?) is looking for to collect all the sites together

One of our favourite UK sites is the caravan club site at York. Brilliant location only 5 mins walk from the city centre. Loads of things to do in York, museums, shopping, the minster, river trips, more shopping , the list is endless.
Its open all year, we have spent 2 brilliant visits over christmas though i would advise you to book in advance (beginning of the year for xmas!), its very popular.
Downsides? Whenever its rains heavily the site tends to flood although the wardens are well geared for the situation and the motorhome waste point is awkward to reverse onto. I can live with that though.
Pete.
