My wife and I spent a few days in Monaco last September as part of a motorcyclng touring holiday; we stayed in a hotel in Monaco and having ridden in there, the bike stayed in the hotel garage for the duration of the stay. The traffic on the approach roads to Monoco was a real nightmare and the tight climbing turms, descents and rock tunnels within Monoco itself were also a serious riding challenge. And this on a motorcycle and me an Advanced Rider! If you had a clear idea of where you were heading and a very clear idea of exactly where you had prior permission to park, driving into Monaco in a MH might be viable but it is not for the feint hearted. I did not see a single MH while in Monaco. Maybe His Serene Highness would let you park on the Square outside the Palace but I should check with him first. That was the only bit of level open tarmac I remember seeing anywhere.
Having said that, Monaco was a great place to visit, not to be missed. The little Tourist Tram is good value and has an excellent commentary in English. The City is fantastic spectator value and there are no real obstacles to up close nosing at the super-rich in their yachts. We saw one as big as a Channel Ferry. You can also get fairly close to the Casino. The Oceanarium is worth seeing and I enjoyed the Museum of the Princes' cars, some fabulous things and some beautifully kept ordinary cars too. The Stamp Museum I didn't go for but others did and said it was a poor do.
All I can suggest is to find a site somewhere outside Monaco and use public transport to get in and around. We used the buses, very easy and good.
Did the coast from Marseille - Menton a few years ago, I did not look in or around Monaco for a place to stay, as i was advised not to overnight on the coast but stay 10 - 15 miles inland, we had a day in Monaco looking around the harbour, a word of warning, due to bad navigation, we arrived in Nice at 1630 Hrs, on a Friday, and 2 hours to clear a roundabout in centre of town,
A nice run is Cros-de-cagnes (a few miles SW of Nice) up to Grass, (Grass is not suitable for large ARVs) then on up the N85 to Castellane, if thinking of going to the Grand Canyon, (Gorges du Verdon) beware of overhanging rock, on the D952, NOT a drive for the faint hearted,
Lots of camp sites all along the coast, and inland,
Been once with a van, and once with a car. You can park your MH at the underground car park at the west side where the buses go but the spaces are really tight - we were with the in-laws and they had a 21ft coachbuilt at the time, anything bigger and you would not stand a chance of getting in if I remember correctly.
We stayed at the campsite in Menton, expensive and not overly well kept but passable. It was a long walk to the train to go one stop into Monaco - got a taxi back and it was around £15. I think their is also a municipal one in this town as well.
You would be better of staying out towards Frejus etc and getting the train in.
Well worth a visit, last time we went it was a week or so before the grand prix and we had a hire car - got to drive round practically the whole track when it was set up with barriers etc.
