Question
We are shortly emigrating to Germany, clearly not for the sunshine, but to be near family and to have a head start on the winter dash for said sunshine on the rest of you poor unfortunates who have to pay lots of money to get across a 21 mile stretch of water.
We intend to be away for 4-6 months during the year and to use recognised sites only when we need to do the laundry. Before we leave I want to have 1/2 solar panels fitted so that our leisure batteries are kept in peak condition. I have a feeling that they may be cheaper in Germany but that may not necessarily be the issue. Does anyone out there, and looking at other forums I guess there will be a number who do, know of a good supplier that also will fit them within 50-60 miles of Wrexham.

I'll be going to AB Butts too. Don, can you tell me where they wired yours back too? And did they make a neat job of it if it came through the habitation?
Thanks
Harry

If you're planning to go anywhere near Portugal on your travels I've been told that solar panels are a lot cheaper there.

With what I know of Portuguese we'd probably end up with a toilet pan on the roof.

Thank you to all those who have taken the trouble to reply. I find the prices quoted by all the UK suppliers to be very expensive, even excessive. The prices in Germany (and I have two quotes from local dealers to where we will be living) are much, much cheaper, perhaps even on a par with Portugal and we will get the job done there. I had been hoping, perhaps foolishly, to get the job done here and keep some of my hard earned pension paid out to a UK supplier. Just about everything else we want to do is also much cheaper! Someone wrote a little while ago that anything which smacked of being marine or motorhome instantly doubled in price and that's about right!
