It has been spoken generators of gasoline. But
somebody has information on the generators of 220V that work with
propano? They are quite common in the U.S.A. but here I can't find it. Somebody knows something? Greetings.

There was an article about generators (One of which ran on Propane) in a recent magazine, I'll have a look tonight to see if I've still got it.

Hi,

The British are a cautious lot, probably because of all the rules and regulations we abide by. Different to some countries Sad As a result LPG fuel hasn’t really taken off very quickly in the UK, hence very few engines are run off LPG. However over the last five or so years there has been a vast increase in the bulk LPG supplier network which has been helped by government taxation policies. Hopefully in years to come its going to be easier to purchase commercial vehicles (basically all MH’s start life from a commercial vehicle cab or van power unit) with petrol engines, thus there will be a marked increase in commercial vehicles powered by LPG conversion. Obviously the knock on effect of the increased popularity of vehicles being powered by LPG and the increased supply network for road side LPG is that other products like generators and so on will increase. A lot of warehouse companies have already switched on to LPG as they have realised LPG fuelled fork trucks are cleaner to use and just as important in a climate controlled by accountants cheaper to purchase.

The British are always keen to latch on to a bargain, yet its surprising how many MH users don’t realise that when they refill their bulk LPG tanks they can tell the cashier the gas is for domestic use and NOT for road use, the consequence of this is that they will get their gas at a reduced rate as they don’t have to pay the road tax duty on their gas!

With regard to small generators and similar equipment driven by combustion engines, there are now quite a few companies who supply/fit gas conversions for these small engines. So people are even converting their lawn mowers to gas. I think that should be another project, to convert my ride on lawn mower as I spend a small fortune on petrol during the year. Sadly lawn mowers seem to drink petrol.

I have a 26ltr refillable tank on my van, i cant see the cashier being very happy about deducting the vat and i dont think many fuel stations are geared up for this, i shall certainly give it a try next time i fill up though.

With all the electronic tills they have these days, they just push a button. It’s common practice in these parts. Besides, I’ve never heard of any one being refused. If you don’t ask you won’t get.

Try speaking to some of the bulk gas suppliers, they are all too aware of it. They are also too aware of people decanting gas from their domestic bulk gas tanks as all their tanker drivers check all the domestic tanks to see if additional outlets have been fitted to the bottom to draw the liquid off.

Just in case some readers are not aware country properties can have their own bulk lpg storage vessel of their own private property to supply the domestic heating and cooking appliances. For these appliances the vaporised liquid (gas) is drawn from the top of the vessel, where as to fill a tank on a vehicle which uses lpg for propulsion/domestic use it requires feeding with liquid from the bottom of the supply vessel.

In all cases of lpg being used for combustion engines, they are fed with liquefied gas. Ah… what about fork trunks I hear you say as the cylinder is on its side. Well they are special cylinders with an internal pick up pipe and the cylinder is marked on the side with some thing to the effect of “use this way up”

Forgot to say.

It’s the road tax they remove, not sure of the percentage, but its far higher than the 17.5% vat. After removing the road tax, they bung vat back on the remaining figure.
