There is a [open all year] site approx 8 miles from Llangollen on the egde of Ruabon called James caravan park, just off the A483 . . depends what you want to do & see ? buses into Wrexham & surrounding areas, Chester approx 15 miles away . . Snowdonia 25 odd miles away - don't expect hot sunshine although [so far] not much freezing weather in this area.

If you can hang on until the first week of March, then most sites will be open, a wider choice of sites and places to visit could make all the difference to a shakedown!

Some ideas (you make need to copy the links below and paste in to Address bar above)
Cross the bridge to Cardiff, turn off for the Rhondda Valley on the A470
Follow this road until you see signs for Aberdare.
Arrive in Aberdare follow the 1 way system to around 12 o'clock look for a sign saying Ferndale.
Follow this road, up a shallow hill for about 1500mtrs or I think it is the 4th or 5th turning on right in to the National park, follow country road in to park go on about 3000mtrs on the left you will see a welsh stone type building, the national park reception, just prior to this you will see a area set aside with hook ups.
Surrounded by mountains but the immediate area is flat.

(There is a Year round site in Cardiff which is great for visiting Cardiff and the Castle - -- -

Following day travel North out of Aberdare towards the edge of the valleys road (Merthyr Tydfil) around about 15 mins away and you are then or the border of the Brecon National Park, check out a number of parks around Brecon not least I think there is a Year round site before Brecon in Sennybridge.

Or, when leaving Aberdare travel North but instead of turning off to Merthyr contine North West to Neath, then down to Port Talbot and on to Swansea and the Mumbles there are a number of winter sites in this area and/or carry on to Pendine Sands which is over 7 miles long
This is for about a week or two.
Aberdare is about hour to hour and a half from the Seven Bridge crossing.
If you are wild camping there will be plenty of places to stop, on the way up through the South Wales Valleys its best to head towards any of the mountain roads has many will have laybys or somewhere to tuck away if not ask a older local who you will find are more than helpful and will be pleased to be asked.
The South Wales valley towns can look very rough after all they are were at the hub of the Industrial revelution but look past this and you will see each town surrounded by large mountains that lead to the woderful Brecon region and on to mid. Wales. and the West.
