While I’ll agree compressor fridges won’t quite work upside down or on their side, they will work at most silly angles you’d be brave enough to park your van. With regard to the fridge I’m currently building, I am mounting the compressor level, but I’m happy to run it at silly angles without expecting problems.

On the other hand, evaporative fridges are no where near as tolerant to side slopes etc. and do require the van to be pretty level to work effectively

PS. Not shown on my website, presently varnishing the fridge cupboard, hopefully start vacuuming it out next week to charge and test it Very Happy

Hi Jim!

[quote:ac5bd68ff3="scotjimland"]Sorry, I have to disagree, a small point but important, compressor fridges are sensitive to inclination and would certainy not work upside down...[/quote:ac5bd68ff3]

Of course they wouldn't. Haven't you seen the Wink ? Smile

Especially your home fridge [b:ac5bd68ff3]is[/b:ac5bd68ff3] really sensitive and should be levelled out before switched on.

No, I was talking about the special compressor fridges for mobile use which are fitted in some motorhomes. As far as I know they can stand up to about 45 degrees without problems. That's not really upside down, I know... Laughing

Best Regards,
Gerhard

The spec plate say 5 amps at 12 volts which equal 60 watts. Best of all, that’s only now and then.
