I am thinking of ditching Virgin Media and getting one of these set top boxes. Interested to hear from anyone who is already using one.

First of all it is Humax, which means that it is simple to operate and bomb proof. By far the best of the Freeview HD PVRs. Has twin tuners and in the right circumstances can record two channels whilst viewing two more.
Only caution is to ensure that you can receive Freeview from your existing aerial and can receive Freeview HD. That means that you will need to check HD transmissions for your area.
Reception can be checked at:
www.digitaluk.co.uk
Final word, you will need a broadband Ethernet connection for BBC iPlayer, (minimum download speed 1.5mbps).

Glad I checked now, it appears that HD is not available until switchover in 2012 in my area. Things may have moved on a bit by then.

You could get the Freesat one but you would need a dish but easy to put up. We take ours with us and connect to a Glomex Discovery see my blog here

If I check my postcode they say I am on the Sudbury transmitter but in fact I point at Bluebell Hill as it has more channels and a stronger signal.

So it's possible there is another transmitter in range. Worth a bit of research.

I've got the standard def version of that and have been really pleased with it. had it for a couple of years now. There was a software bug that caused it to crash, but that was fixed with a firmware update (available over the air). Apart from that it has been really reliable, and I love the series-link and the ability to record one thing whilst watching another (both live and pre-recorded).

Morph.

Not with HD yet. Bluebell Hill does not switch until 2012.

I have had Sky HD for quite a time but with a top range Panasonic 37 inch TV I really don't see HD as a super experience. It looks better but not "Wow". That includes Sky Sports.

My son with his 42 inch doesn't feel its worth chasing yet. He dropped Sky HD for BT Vision. My daughter has probably a 50 inch and they love the sport on Sky HD.

So I will wait for HD to come to me. I think Sudbury changes over in Aug 2011 and I will switch back to get "Look East" mainly but I guess HD will be there.

As I really only have Sky for rugby and I now get Sky Sports 1 & 2 with BT Vision (£13.50 month extra) I think Sky is for the bin.

I certainly feel you have to be 40 inch or over to really get benefit of HD.

Or sit closer. My PC screen is HD res and I wouldn't want any fewer pixels! That's 22" from memory.
