My Citroen Relay came with the Citroen reversing camera system. I have great difficulty seeing the image, espec for the first few moments after selecting reverse while the system warms up. This is useless when one needs to reverse quickly. Is the problem most likely to be with the monitor or the camera? The image is so poor that I wonder if I would be better having reversing sensors!

Can anyone please suggest what my best option might be? Thanks.

Is it possible to have the camera on all the time whilst driving, using it as a rearview camera. This would keep the system warmed up.

I use my 2 cam system as a rearview, but have also noticed that when switching the reversing cam on from cold it does take a minute or so to adjust to the light conditions.

Originally mine was a wired system (camera connected to monitor by wires) it failed a few months ago here is Spain. I could not find the make of the camera or monitor to see if I could find the fault by trial and error and ended up having a wireless one fitted locally. I always keep mine on all the time (no warm up time needed) and aim it slightly upwards so I can see traffic for twenty or thirty yards behind, without it I can have a car tucked up behind and not see it in my mirrors.

The original was very good but useless in the dark. The new one is quite poor, subject to interference when among buildings (when you need it most) and does not seem to adjust to varying light conditions well. It does work well in the dark though. I don't think any of them are faultless or able to provide a clear image under all conditions. They are better than nothing. I also have reversing sensors but would not rely on those alone as I feel they might not see a single post or the like. My conclusion is that a hard wired camera is by far the best. Too late now for me.

I have become so used to having a reversing camera I am uncomfortable without one now, despite driving lorries all my life without any such help. Then again lorries tend to be solid and vans are made of plastic.

It's very annoying that dealers fit equipment to new vans and don't leave the instruction books and warranty cards in the van, Alan.
