hi
just got back from the nec show and i am more confused than before i went.
i went with the intention of buying a sat dome but was unsure of which make ie camos, kvh, maxview, the list seems to get longer.
however after visiting the roadpro stand, picking up a brochure and seeing the camos compact skysearcher automatic and talking to the roadpro people. i am more confused than ever
any views on this piece of kit would be appreciated
cheers frank

I know how you feel!

I went to find out more about the new Camos domes with the aim being able to make a final decision between a Camos or Tracvision 40cm dome to be bought at the Peteborough show.

Unfortunatley I did not acheive this aim and I am still pondering which one to buy.

Any views/guidance from other members on both these systems would be appreciated.

Can't help with domes, but the planar array type sit much lower when parked, are practically windproof, and reputed to be equivalent to a 60cm dish.

Just a further confusing thought! Rolling Eyes

Like Darloboy we went to make the decision between Trakvision or Camos domes.
We are a bit short of roofspace and when I looked at the Trakvision it just looked huge.
Spent some time at Roadpro and was very impressed with the new Camos with auto skew and gps. It also has a smaller footprint on the roof so will be a better fit for us.
Seeing the amount of muck and grot that seems to gather on the roof and around anything on it, I prefer the thought of everything being tucked up inside the dome and away from the elements.
Looks like we are going to go for the 30cm high Camos, so just waiting to hear back from Roadpro on Monday.

Landyman.

Yes, the current Ten Haaft (Oyster) is an 'in motion' system and so is a bit pricey. There is a new model due sometime that is static.
The dome is very compact but quite high and, as I want to keep the height down as much as poss, I took it out of the equation.

PS. also a Richard James. Smile

thats my problem i would like a dome that is a bit smaller than 40cm ie kvh rl4sl or maybe a 30 cm dome, but am not to sure as to how far they will work in europe.
that is the reason that i am a bit cautious at the moment.
as i said in my original post the camos skysearcher auto with the planer dish looks good but again how far will it reach

Hi
Why not give Snelly a call he is far more helpful than roadpro all they want to do is sell you a system [well that's the feeling I had from them] and they are soooooooooooo expensive.

Idea Sat dish, dome or panel

This is a never ending question...........
As I see it they all have a place.
DOME
If you want easy to fit (including moving to your next van) and/or watching on the move then the only choice is a dome.
DISH
If you want best reception plus you like everyone to know you have a cracking good autosearching satellite system then get the biggest dish you can fit / afford.
PANEL
If you want a reasonable system that looks good but not too in your face then these look like the job - there are several but the Skysearcher when it is available looks like it will be good value. The oyster caro system is top quality but more expensive.

Whatever the system though get the biggest you can.

Finally, but most important if travelling through fringe reception areas, get auto skew if you can. Most of the new domes have this, but beware everything else.
The Camos twin lnb has it, but not the single. The panel systems don't have it either. Manual skew will mean a trip onto the roof probably with a spanner.......

After all that though some of this tech is not available for a few months, so if you want it now I still think a good dish is best if you can afford it else go for a dome.

good luck - I have been mulling this one over for 3 months or more already........

Is the problem with so much choice, no one has got it cracked yet?
Another dithering customer!
