I have just took my Autosleepers Mercedes motorhome that I purchased secondhand from Marquis Northampton, into a Mercedes Commercial dealership for its first MOT. I supplied the Log Book as I was taking it in 3 weeks before its due date, so that the extra time could be added on.
On collection I was advised the vehicle, had passed but they had had to issue an advice note advising that the Chassis number on the DVLA Mot computer did not match up with my vehicle. They further advised that the Chassis number in the Log book I supplied to them did not match with my vehicle chassis plate and number.
They did a search of the Mercedes system and it showed the chassis number on my vehicle was showing belonging to a different registration number, they also had a record that the vehicle had been into a Mercedes dealership last year in March with a recorded mileage of 7900 approx my vehicle has done only 5700 approx.
Mercedes have now confirmed from head office Mylton Keynes, that my vehicle has the correct chassis plate on the vehicle, the chassis number in my log book is incorrect.
I have also received a communication from the DVLA and have been asked to confirm reg plates front and back and the number on the chassis plate on my vehicle, with further details were I purchased it from. I have had to send the log book and mot back to the DVLA.
I am now waiting for a reply from the DVLA.
In view of the chassis number error the MOT testing station have stated they were not allowed to add the extra time on almost 3 weeks.
At the time of purchase I transferred my own private plate onto the vehicle, it was not picked up by the DVLA at that time either.
I find it quite interesting especially in view of the fact that Marquis advise that they do a full HPI investigation all on secondhand vehicles sold before purchase, or do they?
Hi.
Same with a timberland Endevour, brand new,and us in Portugal with it,Saga said it was still insured as long as it had the number plates as per ins.docs. Once DVLA were informed,it went smoothly from there, but i was glad i did not write it off on the way home. Funny,Timberland insisted they taxed it,even though i had my own No. plate, and was willing to take the docs to Beverly DVLA,where they said it "Had", to be registered,so another chore was to go to Notts DVLA,and have the docs changed........funny....
Ted.
I had a similar thing on my last van the 4s had been put as As, I got a letter from discover explaining the error and the DVLA just ammended the log book.
