Hi,

We are in the process of planning our summer trip to northern spain and we are wondering if anyone knows what (if any) is the best Campsite finder book we can get to help us with our plans. We will be travelling from France down to Spain.

Also, we are wondering if anyone can recommend a good road map of France and spain.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards

Ellie

Hello Ellie

Assuming you can get hold of it in Ireland, the Caravan Club book 1 has a good selection of sites in France & spain, all entries by members. Members can get a discount, but I got one through Amazon cheaper last year. Also got the Michelin camping sites guide fro France from the same source. Ordered maps from them at the same time.

Michelin guide is excellent - many municipal sites as well as the full facilities ones.

The for France you need two guides, both available from Amazon.Fr . One for campsites is "Le Guide Officiel 2006 Camping Caravaning" , €12 and the one for the Aires, "Le guide Officiel 2006 Aires de Services Camping-Car" €8. I say 2006, as the 2005 ones are out of print and unfortunately the 2006 ones wont be available until March. They are however worth waiting for. For spain try the website http://www.guiacampingfecc.com from whom you can obtain a CD or a guidebook. For the French aires go to http://www.campingcar-infos.com/index1.htm . I agree with the previous post that the Caravan Club guidebook is very good, as it gives you a feel for the sites.

Elle,

A great website to look at is www.eurocampings.net. Gives details of a huge number of campsites across europe with contact details, and web site addresses if applicable.

Suggest you look at low cost camping card at www.acsi-gids.com
We use them on a regular basis low season fixed prices with no initial outlay apart from a few euros for the card and camp site book.

Hi
the two Sites I swear by for campsites in France and Spain are
Camping France
and
Vaya Camping
Almost all the campsites I have ever stayed on in France and Sapin have come from these sites.
but also the aire site mentioned in a previous post is great fopr the less costly way.
