I am considering having a PV panel fitted, but have a slight concern. During visits to France and Germany in 2009 and 2010, we experienced very heavy hail storms. The stones were about 2 cms in diameter and left a few small dents in the roof. I wonder how a PV panel would react to such treatment. Have any members with panels experienced similar weather conditions, and if so, how did your panel(s) cope? Question

I you do some research on the panels you will find that there is a standard ball-bearing drop test.

That should put your mind at rest - unless it actually rains ball-bearings one day!!!!!

Our one experience in Denmark should give you some comfort. A freak hailstorm in Silkeborg ruined every single motor vehicle standing outside. It even punched holes through triple wall polycarbonate roof sheeting and left our roof peppered with dents requiring an expensive repair.

However, the solar panel was unaffected and I could see no sign of damage on it.
