What do you make of this?

Two Sprinters

5 ton 3.0 V6 Diesel Manual
3.5 ton 2.2 straight 4 Automatic

Have driven both on 3 tanks of fuel here are the results of very careful driving.

5 ton fully loaded with bike racks etc = 24mpg
3.5 ton, almost empty = 25mpg

Hi

Sounds about right and we get about that from our 5 ton Hymer. The 3 litre doesn't have to work as hard.

Not according to the MB Blurb. Some are slightly less efficient and at one point I think some Autos were slightly better.

In that case you need lighter boots when you drive the 3.5 tonner . . . or it has pretty naff fuel economy as standard!

I get 35mpg on a run with ease from our Peugeot, which is considered by many to be a heap of junk compared to a Mercedes. (Sob Crying or Very sad )

Just varying the diesel could account for that, for example, city diesel is low sulphur, less mpg. Truck stop diesel in France has more sulphur, better mpg.

Sorry, TM I was thinking that the 311 was an earlier version, I can see why your puzzled.

What's the relative BHP?
