Hi, we're 4 guys planning a trip somewhere in europe and we would like to rent a motorhome.
I looked at some websites and they all said required age is 21+.
Does anyone know about a company which rent also for 19-20 years old?
Preferably near Munich, but other suggestions are also ok.

Thanks!

Welcome, but this forum is based in the UK, so it's unlikely any of our members will be able to help.

They will if they can I'm sure, but you may find it very difficult.

Is it possible/easy in your own country? It certainly isn't here, and the insurance would be horrendous if you could find a company to hire you a van. Probably the same in Germany.

Sorry to sound so negative.

Dave

in the back,and headed off.

In my own country, sure, I'll do that. But when going abroad on a flight etc. which cost substantial amount of money, away from home? Thanks, but mostly I'll stick to planning Wink

Have to agree, buy a transit, off you go. I did it it in a Bedford HA BT van! Or a cheap volvo estate.

Hi.
Lads from Matlock have flown to Australia, years ago, bought an old beat up van,and travelled and worked their way across. It would appear that your planning has overlooked the fact of your age/Insurance will be nigh on impossible, rental, another arm and a leg,if you get Insurance, and if your starting point is from the British Isles, there are cheap buses going regularly to Germany, that cost pennies.
An idea would be,first chose your cheapest option,or is the "Adventure",based around comfort first?. The cheapest way i see you doing it,is get a job with a "White van man",who delivers in Europe, its win, win, you see the sights, and get PAID!.
Gearjammer.

Ps. I can lend you an A-Z of Dover docks.

You have no chance of doing this. Most rental companies will not entertain same-sex parties at your age.

At your age planning is not a required option. All you need is your next stop and next meal/drink! Wink And those two items are subject to change.
You've got the right idea with 'somewhere in Europe', that's all the planning required.

Us two old duffers drew a line through france and spain, that was enough planning for us. We made it with very little drama and now have planned the journey back. Well i lied there we haven't, we will just follow the swallows!

C'mon live on the edge even if it is a bit blunted nowadays.

Hi

Isn't there a street in London where the likes of Aussie travellers buy and sell old VDub campers? Fly in, buy a 30 year old bus with "history", travel around Europe for a few months and sell it again?

Two small vans may make breakdowns easier and if there are disagreements over the days plans you can split up?!

Buying something cheap will be thousands less than renting even if you were all ten years older and made a loss on resale, IMHO Smile
