Help. Im not sure how to use this service. I have black tape across the width of the bottem of the front windscreen which covers the rubber seal on my 2008 elddis autoquest 120 which i bought new from the dealer in aberdeen. the tape has started to perish (little holes and tears between the rubber and the glass (the tape is approximately 1 1/2 inches deep and is shaped at each end). I guess the harsh winter conditions I experienced in France and Germany last winter contributed to it! The peugeot dealer in Elgin does not have it on his computer. Where would I get this tape replaced? the motorhome dealer or a garage? I regret I am not at all technical.

The garage should be able to sort you out as its a vehicle windscreen and not a habitation window.

Hi aande
I would think that the tape was used to stop water getting between the screen and rubber seal. It was probably done by someone who did not want to reseal the screen rubber.
I have had two x250 cabs, I had to reseal both of them. Remove the tape, clean the glass and rubber make sure they are dry. I used a tube of thompsons black gutter sealant and using an ordinary sealant gun, forcing the nozzle between the rubber and glass squeezed a bead of sealant in. push the rubber back tight to the screen and remove the excess sealant.

If your cab is an X250 the tape sounds like an attempt by either the last owner or his dealer to counter the dreaded Scuttlegate !

If so- and this was the initial, solution used by a Fiat garage that our dealer sent our van to -then you ought to ask your dealer to check that the Scuttlegate issue has been properly dealt with on your van.
