Hi all, this morning i have installed a maxview crank up dish and a freesat box the name of which escapes me at the minute it looks like a maxview but isnt,
The problem is by coincidence the freesat remote partially works the tv,its impossible to tune the box in as the tv keeps showing its own menu, or switching the source back to tv instead of scart, exit on the sat remote switces the tv off,any suggestions please.

Can't you just stick a bit of tape over the TV IR sensor whilst you tune the freesat box? Presumably, once you've got the setup working you won't really need to adjust the TV very often anyway? Set the TV volume high and use the freesat volume control instead of the TV and use the manual on/off for the TV rather than the remote.

PS: If it looks like a Maxview satellite box, it's probably a Comag free to air box. Usually on the Comag boxes you press "info" to display the dish tuning screen followed by "1" for the audible tone. They're a very easy box to tune when matched with manual dish.

Gaspodes suggestion of using tape or blocking the Infra Red receiver is the only sensible one if you keep the current combination.
Unfortunately, this problem is becoming more common as more manufacturers use infra red remotes for all sorts of devices. There aren't enough codes to go round and so occasionally you may get two different products together with the same codes for different purposes.
I cannot use one of my Humax PVRs with one TV in our house.
