Hello guys,
I have spent a fair bit of time reading posts in the forum and after a lot of bargain hunting I bought the following kit for my recently purchased and 1st MU Hobby 750:
2 big 12v 150ah deep cycle batteries. 46 kg each, ouch! (there is already a 90ah leisure leisure battery under the front seat)
Have you mapped out your roof space to see if 490watts of paneling will fit
Hopefully, they should fit OK, I know someone with another Hobby 750 that fitted another big panel (200w) over the curved roof above the cabin using some bespoke brackets. The other 2 panels should fit nicely round the back, above toilet and fridge areas.
Hi again Dave, do you think that I have gone a bit too far with 3 panels? I took the advise from the people in the forum that think that you should fit as many as the roof and your pocket can take. I dont want to have the need to hook up unless I really have to.
If you're going to get anywhere near ALL year round independence then you're going the right way. You'd be realistically getting 20 amps for the best part of the day just now. If you get 25% of that in winter you're still doing ok.
With that much power you could consider running your fridge off 12V on a sunny day. There is a discussion about that on a German motorhome forum..
Pieter
Hi Pieter,
Yes, it is a 24V inverter but my thought was to run the 2 x 150ah batteries in series (12+12) and use the inverter to get 240V most of the time so we can watch TV, use satelite receiver, microwave or/and fridge?? Is that possible or you have to stick to 12volt inverters with motorhomes?
