Hi all, had the recent misfortune to loose one set of keys for the van. Rang Mercedes at the time and they quoted £100 for a replacement. That did'nt come as too much of a shock but decided too leave it a couple of weeks in case they turned up, they did'nt so rang again only to be told the price had gone up to £200!. They explained " a newer version had replaced the old". I decided too look again for the old set.
I have tried several auto key suppliers who's names have been mentioned in the forums and have been told that the key is too new and after market replacements have not become available yet.
Any help appreciated.
Mike
Beware claming on the insurance, Heathercloe ? claimed for her stolen cat and it has cost her dear on her insurance.
Sometimes it is better to bite the bullet and pay up and keep your mouth shut to the insurance company.

As a follow up to this, stumped up the £200 for a new key and was told it would be in the following day and bring the van back to check it worked. I questioned this because it seemed quick to cut a new key. "Oh that does'nt include the blade sir, that's an extra £44" As this attaches the key to a ring I ordered it. On collecting it, fitted the glove box ok but would'nt fit the new key or the old one! but the old blade fits both, conclusion, the new key is identical to the old one and the new blade fits an entirely different shape key! I am returning to the dealers today for an explanation. At very least I've spent £44 on a blade that does'nt fit my key, but far more likely, been charged double the price for the original style key!
Just a thought, but if you have one of those insurance policies that covers you for lost credit/debit cards (ie one phone call cancels the lot etc) that usually covers lost keys as well.
We cut and programe vehicle keys every day.
Send me a picture of your key, here or to castle.locks@btinternet.com
No promises but I may be able to help.
