I have just asked my local dealer for a quote for having a swivel on one seat (passenger side, as the bathroom is behind the driver's seat). He told me he would have to ask Peugeot as they needed to do the work.

The quote came back:

£4188.00 excluding Vat and fittings!

I'd rather sit on the money!

Ridiculous price. Shocked

Techno beat me to the suggestion. Do it yourself - it's not rocket science.

Do take care to use the correct high tensile bolts and/or nuts though, and get expert advice (obviously from someone other than your dealer!!!!) if you are uncertain, as it could be a serious safety hazard if you get it wrong.

Just to add, if you do decide to DIY then be careful with any of the cables etc that may need to be routed through the swivel plate, in particular if you have any airbags fitted in seats.

As Dave mentioned do not scrimp on buying new fixing bolts etc if not included in the swivel kit

Thanks for the advice everyone, all your cautions have been duly noted. l was never in any doubt about the value of my subscription, Techno, best tenner l've spent in a long while!

My daughter has been looking at both the you tube clip (although that's a pre-2007 model) and my seat. She reckons its possibly easier than the older one. Whilst l struggle to change a lightbulb, my daughter takes after my late husband and is very capable and through. She reckons it would be possible for us to do.

My concerns are: How does this affect my insurance. I have just taken the MHF policy, which was very good value. They told me that they would want written details of the conversion including who was doing it. They would then put it to their underwriters. Maybe they'd not be too impressed to find it was a diy job?

Hi Marrabone

If you are concerned about your insurance, get the parts you need and ask either a local garage or a mobile technician to fit them for you.

Either should be qualified to confirm that the job has been done to professional standards (whatever they are! Shocked ) and should be willing to put it in writing - an itemised receipt would be OK I think.

Ask them first, and if they start backing off, you do the same!! Wink

If you find a small garage, preferably not a dealership, you should get it done quite cheaply. Likewise with a mobile technician.

If you do attempt it yourself, be warned. The seat is a LOT heavier than you expect, and you could do yourself a damage if you are not expecting the weight.

You could also try here http://www.outdoorbits.com/mapa-fiat-ducato-seat-swivel-07-p-601.html for the swivel.
