I have a very old Kawasaki generator, a GD550A, and need to replace the air filter which has disintegrated when I attempted to clean it.
Using Google I have been unable to source a replacement in this country. Kawasaki no longer sell generators in the UK
Can anyone offer advice as to where I might find a replacement in the Uk or what I could do as an alternative.
Could I make a filter? The old one seems to be similar to a synthetic sponge.
The generator is in excellent condition in spite of being over 20years old, fires up first time and I am loath to dispose of it for the sake of an air filter, I'd sooner run it without one.

Not exactly a generator but I had a similar problem with my antiquated rotorvator, I ended up using an old pair of my wife`s tights, neatly folded, worked a treat.

You could try just what it looks like "A Sponge" dont make it one with too tight "Air bubbles" as this will reduce the Air intake, Basically all it is is what it says, an "Air Filter" to stop dirt particles entering the cylinder.

'A' Series Citroens ( 2CV etc. ) use an air filter sponge. I don't know what shape or size yours is but the 2cv one is in the form of a ring, so if cut would be a flat rectangle, probably about 5" by 12 to 15". I may have one in my gargae: if so I'll measure it for you if you want. There is one depicted at one of the 2cv parts suppliers here:--
Took norm1955's advice and nipped into my local garden machinery supplier. They conjured up a similar constructed but larger filter which I bought and have cut to size. Will fit it this afternoon.
Thanks for all the ideas.
