What reversing sensors do MHF'ers recommend?

I fitted a cheap set of surface mounted ones on my car about 5 years ago. These were about £20 from Argos and have performed flawlessly but they would look a bit pants if I hadn't have been able to mount them somewhere discrete. They were very similar to these:

How about Flush fitted ones? Are the more expensive ones really any better?

I am confident that I could fit them without too much trouble so would not have to pay for fitting.

I am not keen on having a another dedicated display on the dash just for the sensors. My car ones just have a buzzer in the dash and that works fine, but I'm not sure if it could be heard clearly from the front of the MH and I would prefer not to have to run another cable to the front of the MH.

I have seen models where the display can be overlayed over the reversing camera image, In theory this seems a great idea. Does anyone have experience of such a set-up? and can anyone recommend a cost effective solution incorporating this technology? Our MH already has wiring for a reversing camera.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
James

I have a reversing camera, which to be honest I find to be of little value for reversing when it comes down to close maneuvering. It is fine for use as a security monitor and rear view mirror. The rear beeper sensors seem better at sensing distance than my vision on the monitor.
When piggy gets full I shall invest in the little bumper buds and find a lecky to fit them. Wink

I paid about £45 for a set of wireless ones which work ok on most things - but not German bus stop poles positioned 18" out from the kerb!

Ah Kev
Now I would have been able to see the German bus stop pole but would have missed out collecting paint matching samples. Laughing Laughing

Try Parking Dynamics PD1 sensors.

It consists of a self adhesive strip similar to an internal aerial. Its fixed inside the rear bumper and totally invisible and no drilling.

Very easy to fit in 30 minutes.

I fitted Quanan parking sensors to our previous van, and our current one. Quite easy to install once you have drilled the bumper to take them. The ones I fitted were their C4000 type with a beeper inside the back of the van, next to the bed. You can hear it on the loud setting quite easily from the cab. Just wire to the reversing lamp for a supply.

At £49.99, they are good value for money. (Or £139.99, professionally fitted).

Colin

PS - I am in GL11 if you wanted to come and look this weekend - just PM me for an address.

I stripped the sensors out of a set of these and drilled them through my number plate on my car. They have worked for over 5 years without a problem

I have found the Parking Dynamics system on ebay.

The price is reasonable but the range of this system only seems to be half of the equivalent ultrasonic system.

The fact that it is an invisible product is attractive. Although, a well installed ultrasonic system can look tidy too.

That looks Brill will be fitting one of these to my car as the ultrasonic PDC is soo unreliable as water seems to get in the sensors.
