I would say 60watt is border line for keeping you topped up and wouldnt put much into reserve A decent sized solar panel at 80watt and regulator, and a battery master will keep you topped up nicely. bit more pricey but worth it.

It sounds a reasonable size for it's price off a hight st shop..
However, read up on this section. You can do better, especially if your fitting DIY..
Mine was 80w solar and cost under £230 a year last February. Prices have dropped again and so you will get 80w either cheaper or with a better regulator etc..

This is curent deal from where i got my panel.. £199 for 80w kit. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PV-80watt-Solar-Panel-Mono-Barge-shed-Caravan-Kit-eco-/140546922795?pt=UK_Gadgets&hash=item20b93fd92b

all you need extra is some sealant and a roof entry..

Hi,

I bought the kit from Maplin a couple of weeks ago when it was reduced to £199. Since then I have bought and fitted 2 x 110 AH leisure batteries and an inverter.

I think the panels, cabling and regulator are good value, however the mounting kit looks to be inappropriate (bulky plastic and poor quality nuts and bolts etc..).

I want to fit the panels to the roof at the weekend but was wondering whether to make and fit aluminium brackets and sikaflex the brackets to the roof then screw the panels to the brackets.

However I don't see why I can't sikaflex and \ or screw the panels directly to the roof, does anyone have any sugestions? Thanks

The panels need air to circulate under them to keep cool, that is why they are fitted on brackets.
