I was struck by two stands offering A-Frame connection for towing a car at The Newbury Show yesterday.
I'm a bit concerned re the legality of this in France / Spain although both assured me it was OK.
Any one got any experience of this?

It's my understanding that some people get pulled over in Spain. Irrespective of one's view on legality (this appears to be an endless debate) it seems most sensible not to tow with an A-frame in Spain, unless one has a 'spare' driver who can unhitch and drive the car if required.

I didn't think that there were particuoalr problems in France but may be mistaken.

The one company at Newbury offered their new electronically controlled braking system which they claimed would keep things legal after 2014. (And yes, they also insisted it would be legal in Spain.)

The other crowd - I didn't stop to speak to them - seemed still to have the mechanical overrun mechanism.

To prevent yet another 14-page inconclusive & probably heated thread on this subject, use the search facility and gain benefit from what's been discussed previously.

Well said, there should be automatic lock down on some subjects; A Frame towing and Gassing are examples.

Will be towing my Citroen ZX down to Le Mans next month with 1,000 Gendarmes looking on.
