We've only been to one of them ( Kamp Koren in Kobarid, Slovenia) but they seem to be what we call Caravan Parks. Not surprising as Alan Rogers mainly appeals to caravanners who go for a couple of weeks to a resort-type site.

I happen to have stayed at Gugels Dreilander site on the Rhine, and although they do make every effort to be a holiday destination, much of their custom is from "passing" trade.
I would think that any campsite owner would rather have someone in for a week than a night - but will not turn down the overnighter, nor make him any less welcome. Talk to Jean-Luc at Kockelscheuer in Luxembourg, and tears come to his eyes because despite his efforts to make the site attractive and pleasant, 95% of his trade is from one night transitters.
Talking recently to a couple of Alan Rogers campsite inspectors, I was surprised to note the sheer variety of sites they assess for inclusion in their guidebooks in order to cater for everyone from tenters to RV's.
I also understand that sites do not pay to be in the Alan Rogers guides - they are independently inspected and if they achieve high enough standards, they are eligible for inclusion, but cannot buy their way in.
