Hi All

I have an Omnistor 6002 sun canopy fitted to the MH and want the straps that hold the two legs down to protect from the wind.

Not the type that run over the top of the canopy but the type that hook into each leg and are spring loaded.

Anyone know where I can get them from ?

cheers

salute

Lilypad Leisure do the ones that slide into the "C" channel on the front rail of your awing if thats the sort of thing you are looking for. I think they cost about £20 for a pair

I know what you mean, fits into the top of the leg and not the awning channel, thus allowing you to add an awning front panel if you wish whilst still adding extra support to the leg.
We did see them at a recent show but they were about 20-30 pounds.
We went to the next stall selling odds and sods and bought two rachet straps that come with an 'S' shape connector. Fits brilliantly and only 1.50 pounds. Hope it helps.

That would be my suggestion too Dave, and perhaps include a short length of strong shock cord to absorb any sudden gusts.

And tell us where you got the shock cord from, 'cos I've been vaguely looking for some and have yet to source it. (Haven't really searched, and I'm sure it's available in short lengths.)

I use a couple of the short, thick bungy cords & find them fine for normal use. One hook fits through the slot at the top of the leg & the other I peg to the ground. No problems so far. They are available at the shows for a quid each.

We got one of the Omnistor "Hold-down side strap" kits from here:

http://www.hillviewawnings.co.uk/accessories.htm

Specifically designed to fit in a little slot at the top of each leg, and comes complete with straps, stakes and springs.

We've been very happy with them, though I still put the awning away if the wind gets up, mainly because it flaps about and makes a bit of a rackett, rather than that i think it'll take off.

How sturdy are those little S-clips that fasten to the top of the leg? They look as if they could be a weak link to bend/snap. Are they stronger than they look in the pictures?

Very sturdy. They appear to be made of stainless steel (or, perhaps, some sort of alloy) about 2mm thick? If you attach the tie-down strap and pull down on it, the leg will give way long before the S-clip thingy bends.

What's nice is that they apply the down-force exactly where it is needed - at the top of the leg and not somewhere else along the span of the awning.

Try B & Q's chain and cordage department. They sell all sorts of useful stuff by the meter.
