Hi all,
Due to my wife's declining health we are in the process of needing to buy a mobility scooter, the one we are considering is 119 kg ( inc battery, not removable ), we would like to be able to use a platform on the tow bar to transport it that can fold up when not in use. We drive a long wheel base Fiat Ducato panel van conversion ( 2010 model ). It appears we would need a tow bar that could cope with 150 kg vertical down weight, ie scooter plus rack/platfrom.
We would be grateful if any one has any experience on this ie type, manufacturer etc.

I doubt if you'll get a towbar to take that much weight. You also need to consider your axle weight limits.

You need to check this..!!
But in conversation some time ago with a towbar supplier he said that if they fitted an actual tow BALL then they need to rate it..
However if you mount the carrier by other means ie, welded direct to tow frame (i guess) then it dosent need a weight rating...
HOWEVER !! As already said you still need to check the loading on your rear axle....
Last resort a little trailer ????
