We have decided that solar is probably the top of our list for an upgrade.
Now starting to look at prices and wondering if there are any special deals around e.g. show specials.

I do note that a lot of people are buying from eBay and then fitting the panels themselves.

We can self fit, but if there is a good deal including fitting then this would also be attractive.
However there aren't a lot of caravan/motorhome places in Suffolk.
Could be an excuse to travel, of course Smile

I will be catching up on all the useful advice - quite a lot of reading Smile

Happy to be contacted by any Trade members.

Cheers

LGC

Hi LGC

We use Stowmarket Caravans for our habitation services, and they seem to be pretty good.

I saw :: these people :: pop up on Facebook the other day, based in Norwich. We had our panel (120W) fitted by Shane at :: Snellyvision ::. Absolutely the best thing we ever did.

I'd go for at least an 85W panel, or bigger if possible. You can't have too much free electricity.

Gerald

Hello,

I had some BP 80w Solar panels on our previous van. I also have one spare.

I only paid £150 each for the BP panels from a company on ebay who were shutting down.

The Motorhome we have now came with 2 cheapo 75w panels. The output from them is very poor. So I intend to fit my Spare 80w BP when I get chance.

I have read some reports of cheaper solar panels failing after 3 years and I think the cheapo ones on ours are doing just that.

Also noticed the BP panels I am talking about (BP380J) now sell for around £350+

So my advice is shop around for a good deal on Branded Quality panels that will hopefully work for at least 10 years, if not the 25 years they warranty them for (not sure who you would claim from if the seller of the panels went bust or ceased trading).

Like a lot of others here on MHF I bought most of the bits off ebay and self fitted... Cost at time last year was £230 for 80watts..
Best thing I have fitted, no worries about power when away on rallies and shows etc..
Saves loads of cash when abroad and campsites want to charge 4 euro a day !!
I dont think you are going to find any deals at show's that will match an ebay price as they need to cover the stand costs etc..
Good luck with the project and keep us advised..
