We have recently bought a second hand Pilote Galaxy 40 here in France. It belonged to the owners of a Citroen garage it was serviced and underwent a CT (French equivalent to MOT) and is covered by a 3 month guarantee.
On our first outing we had problems with the brakes and a leak from the windscreen so arranged to take it back 4 days later.
When we went into it the day before it was due to go back both the leisure battery and the engine battery were totally dead and we had to start the engine using jump leads. We put the batteries on charge but after 24 hours neither of them had held a charge.
The previous owner had fitted a solar panel with an Epsolar dual battery control panel just before we bought it. Which seemed to have worked when we were away. The LEDs on this were no longer flashing, which according to the trouble shooting part of leaflet shows that there is no battery or overcharged battery. They have replaced the engine battery with a new one but the other one is still dead and won't charge and still no flashing lights on the control panel.
As we are new to this and have never experienced solar battery chargers can any one answer our questions before we contact the vendors again.
Could the solar charger have over charged both batteries and fried them? If so how might this have happened and is it likely to happen again if we buy a new leisure battery?

Unless the solar panel is huge, it is unlikely to generate enough power to fry the batteries.
When installing a solar regulator you need to connect it to the batteries before connecting the solar panel. If the batteries have been replaced whilst the panel was still connected this could have confused the regulator.
Try disconnecting the regulator completely, connect the battery cables, then connect the solar panel. This should re-set the regulator.

If the leak is from the bottom of the windscreen, I believe there has been a history of this problem on some vans. You could examine the outside with the bonnet up. If this is the problem I think there was a thread on this problem at an earlier date. Drainage and the angle of the van when parked being a couple of points.
