The Status 530 is designed to be roof mounted. If you want to mount one on the ladder it will be easier to use a conventional type on a pole.

and if you haven't got it already don't go and buy it. Its is just as effective to buy any small wideband TV aerial like in the picture below.
Mine cost just under £6 from a Radio and TV shop.

HI
on my last motorhome i mounted a status on a pole externaly to clips and made the cable entry via an external socket which only meant drilling a small hole through the body the size to take the coax cable, it worked great

Ray,
I mounted mine in the bin.
Terrible reception.
peedee`s solution is best advice.
Now I have a sat dish.

My 530 has been brilliant, hasn't let me down yet, even get a good picture abroad.

Are you sure you're not confusing the 530 directional with the omni directional flying saucer one, which I'd agree, is crap.

Hi

My Status 530, not only on this van but the last two also were absolutely pants.

The aerial suggested above is a better idea.

Screwfix often sell high gain TV aerials made by Vision Plus. I got a humungously big one for about £24. Picks up Martian channels. Shocked
