Just purchased a 100W panel from ebay at a good price. It came with a Lumiax charge controller. The wiring diagram shows the + from the panel being connected straight to the battery + as well as to the controller and the - of the battery being connected straight to the controller. Ie the + from the panel is being used as the common and the - as the controlled voltage. This makes no sense. Or does it?

Every panel i have had(and ilve had a few!)have been wired thus.Pos and neg from panel to pos and neg input on the controller.Usually there is a little picture of a solar panel. Then pos and neg from the battery to pos and neg on the other terminals on the controller.Again there is often a battery picture to assist.

Hi David,

I just bought an 80w kit with a lumiax 10a regulator (probably from the same chap on eBay. Reading the instructions I am facing the same puzzel. Did you find a solution. I also wondered if you got the LCD display with your kit. I ask because it seems I cant select my battery type (sealed lead acid) without it. The default on the regulator is flooded.

This morning I was looking forward to installing and seeing the free energy flow, but its overcast and pooring with rain- so it goes!

I said I was not happy with the controller and pointed out it had no LCD as per advert. He upgraded me for free. Still a Lumiax unit but I fitted it and it seems to work fine. Off today on a 3 week trip so I will see if everything works under real-world conditions!

Must say the ebay guy has been very responsive to my concerns .
