I am wanting to fit a portable solar panel direct to my charger rather than the battery.

I have CBE split charger, distribution box and a control panel which will give me a readout of the current going in from the panel. I expected to find a terminal block within the charger unit that I could connect my flying lead in to. But as is apparent from the attached photos no such connection is available Sad

So, am I able to connect to the charger, which would give me a charge to leisure and vehicle battery, and if so how??

Alternatively could I just connect to the heavy duty cables in the distribution unit? I assume if I do this then I lose the split charging function??

Or do I do something entirely different Confused

There is a connector on CBE units for solar but I just connected from the solar controllar to B1 and Neg terminals on the distribution box then have a positive wire with switch between B1 and B2 so I can switch it and join up the vans battery B1 to the leisures B2 . Make sure to fuse both leads mine is a 10amp fuse. I leave it switched on and just switch off when I want to use the van. Easy Smile

Yes, I thought there was a solar connector on the CBE charger or distribution unit, it would make sense as I have a solar panel icon on the control panel in the habitation area, trouble is I can't see it Confused

These instructions say "Fuse 7. 20A fuse for the auxiliary power supply (solar regulator), which is directly connected to the leisure
(B2) battery."

Thanks for that rayc, mine is distribution module 450 but Fuse 7 is also 20amp Aux so I assume the same. Looking at the "manual" it appears the positive wire from my solar controller goes in to connector 15 position 1, presumably by fitting some sort of male bullet connector to the cable??

Where would the negative connection go?

To the negative connector -B2.
You could connect the regulator output to +B2 and install a battery master so that it will also charge the cab battery. Of course your regulator may be the type that will charge both batteries and not require a battery master. An example is in the link below:

Thanks again rayc, it seems I only have the one negative battery connector - see in my photo bottom right below the connector block - so I assume I just connect to this and it will charge B1 + B2.

The connector block for the positive would appear to be the one top right in my photo, but if this is the same as the one in the Marcle supplied instructions then positions 1, 2 and 3 are already occupied Confused

This is tricky because my distribution board is not the same as the one linked to at Marcle and whilst it would seem sensible to assume Fuse 7 Aux is for solar connection, the connector block doesn't seem to fall in with this???

I have contacted CBE three times by email over the last week or so for information, but sadly they haven't responded. Their downloads section doesn't include the manuals for my components either Sad
