On our last but one trip abroad we added the Data Traveller package to our contract.

Simple to do- just ring up and for a month you get (got) 25mb per day on i-phone/Android etc for a tenner. Just "unsubscribe" after the month and that's it-quite good value and we used it a lot.

So in readiness for next trip I rang VF and asked to be put onto Data Traveller-after hanging on for ages lady came back to me "ah yes- 25mb per day for £5 each day you use any of it "

I asked where the £10 package had gone and she told me it was replaced by the £5 per day

"So an increase from £10 per month, to a possible £150 per month for similar use?" Yes-was the reply

At that stage I had the biggest rant I'd had for ages ...suggesting that Ofcom, OFT, loads of other quangos and the national newspapers may be interested in this massive price hike which they might well be asked to justify.

"Just a moment" she says- a couple of minutes later... ...."yes okay we'll give you the £10 "Old" Data Traveller Deal you had before"

I've got her name and the exact time, to the minute, I spoke with her

Any VF customers who want to use their phones for internet connection may be interested Wink

(Yes I know I could kindle but I find the HTC keyboard much easier Laughing )

Very interesting post, i've just come back from hols, the phone was no problem, I had asked vodafone to text me if my data roaming got to £50. (I think it was) and they sent an foc text from 50% upwards.

However their service on the dongle was disaster - I had requested euro roaming,,, you guessed right vodafones super inefficient customr dis-service dept didnt activate so the dongle didnt work.

There is only one firm I know thats worse than vodafone and thats a phone coy - bt

Telbell,

Are you talking Europe roaming or Global roaming outside Europe?

Hi

The extra charges relate to WORLD coverage - ie, outside the "normal" data traveller package of Europe

http://www.vodafone.co.uk/personal/price-plans/managing-my-costs/travelling-abroad/using-the-internet-abroad/index.htm

Maybe there was a genuine misunderstanding.

Russell

Edit - Dave - I think we are on the same lines. It took me longer to verify though!
